JOHOR BARU, June 6 — The Johor Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested a 40-year-old part-time real estate agent for allegedly soliciting and accepting bribes amounting to more than RM20,000 over the past two years.
It is understood that from 2021 to 2022, the suspect, who was an enforcement officer at a government department, had requested and received the bribes from two different individuals. “The suspect had also convinced the two individuals involved that she could obtain the lot by using her position as a department enforcement officer,” said the sources. In a separate case, officers from the Segamat MACC branch detained a finance administrative assistant attached to a local authority for misusing her authority last year.
Sources said MACC investigators initiated a probe after she allegedly misused her position to credit salary arrears and allowances of others into her own account.
