"In May 2023, a petition was tabled at a council meeting requesting council to stop the increasing number of living quarters being erected on the property and remove all the current non-approved dwellings and storage containers."During the COVID-19 pandemic she allowed someone to stay on her land, but they were evicted by the council.
A petition has been started to help the women and others like them, hoping to update old planning rules.Statement from a Sunshine Coast Council spokesperson: Council's investigation into the use of this property commenced in February 2022 following receipt of complaints relating to shipping containers and the occupation of a bus at the site. Council is required by law to investigate such complaints and cannot ignore them.
