Brook Park City Council and Mayor Ed Orcutt discussed the potential sale during council’s Sept. 12 caucus. They went over the details in a prior executive session as well.obtained through a 2019 land swap with the Berea City School District,“The former Brookview Elementary School will be demolished, and is looking to put approximately 61 units on that property, with two oversized retention basins to create a relief point … to help with the flooding in that neighborhood,” Orcutt explained.
Additionally, Orcutt indicated Grey Fox Capital has secured the rights to develop nearby vacant property in the Pemberton Drive area on the opposite side of Snow Road, between the eastern railroad bridge and Van Wert Avenue. Approximately 23 townhome units similar in style to this one are proposed for the Pemberton Drive area across the road from the former Brookview Elementary School. “None of the roads that will be tied into these units will be dedicated, which means the city will not maintain them for plowing and will not maintain the storm sewers,” Orcutt said, noting the management company plans to form a homeowners association and have its own on-site maintenance team.
