The property has been boarded-up for several years which neighbours say is 'bringing the community down'

Unsightly metal screens on an empty property in Darwen have led neighbours to call for action to be taken.

Residents have accused the council of being hypocritical as the owner of a boarded-up terraced house just a few yards down the road was issued with an enforcement warning notice placed on the front of the property. That house, 350 Blackburn Road, has been empty for 18 months following the death of the occupant.

"It's in a really prominent place and you can't help but clock the horrible green screens whenever you go past. It's been like that for years and years and I'm sick of it." Some residents suggested to LancsLive the property could have sat abandoned on Blackburn Road for as long as 10 years.
