Police cordoned off a flat after shots were fired through the front and rear windows of the property

Merseyside Police are on the scene at Willowdale Road in Walton after being made aware of damage to windows at the front and back of the property consistent with gunfire. A spokesperson for the force said officers have made enquiries at the address and spoken to potential witnesses, who believe the shooting happened late on Friday, March 29 into Saturday, March 30.

One neighbour heard what they described as "a gun" going off and went outside in the street, thinking it was fireworks. Another added: "I heard a man shouting, then the sound of gunfire, then some more shouting." Detectives are carrying out extensive CCTV and witness enquiries in the area. High visibility police officers will also remain around the road in the coming days. A spokesperson said: "If you live in the area or were driving past at the time of the incident, please review your CCTV and dashcam footage to see if you captured anything significant."
