Housing Minister Eoghan Murphy scores 3 out of 10 performance rating in latest poll

Housing Minister Eoghan Murphy scored a dismal three out of 10 in a performance poll of Government ministers. The news comes days after the damning Residential Tenancies Board report which stated there are more than 10,000 without a home. But the figures did not include people who are sleeping rough, couch surfing, those living in hospitals, prisons and direct provision centres amongst other things.

He said: “We’re in this mess because councils stopped building and pushed people into the private sector with Housing Assistance Payment., according to the Sunday Business Post poll. The overall low score can also be attributed to the recent nurses’ strike over pay disputes and the rising cost of the National Children’s Hospital.

Last month hundreds of schoolchildren took to the streets to voice their dissatisfaction about the Government’s lack of measures to tackle climate change.
