While homes had been threatened earlier in the day, no damage was reported and no evacuations were in put in effect.Two firefighters were hospitalized for treatment of minor injuries, Sherwin said The fire, named the Sierra fire, prompted the South Coast Air Quality Management District to issue a smoke advisory for areas including Fontana, Jurupa Valley, Bloomington, Rialto, and Colton. The advisory was effective through 3 p.m. Monday.
Residents were urged to limit their exposure to the smoke by remaining indoors with windows and doors closed or by seeking shelter. They were advised to avoid vigorous physical activity and to run their air conditioning and/or air purifiers. The fire at Martin Tudor Jurupa Hills Regional Park was reported at about 2:45 p.m. near the intersection of Sierra and Jurupa avenues, the Fire Department said.
