However, it's not all good news, as a price increase is expected to affect thousands.Free Travel Scheme Starting from July 2024, the Free Travel Scheme will be extended to include those who are medically certified as unfit to drive. This scheme allows beneficiaries to travel free of charge on public transport and some private bus and ferry services.
Applications opened on 12 June 2024 and will close on 30 September 2024. The current rates are €160 for children aged 4 to 11 and €285 for those aged 12 to 22. SSE Airtricity In other news, SSE Airtricity has announced a price decrease, effective from July 1. This will result in a 10% reduction in standard electricity and gas rates. Eligible gas customers can expect to see annual savings of around €104.79, while those with electricity included will save up to €149.24 annually.
