Residents in nine locked-down public housing towers in Flemington and North Melbourne have complained about food delivery delays and poor communication

"It's a relief, even if people aren't being told about it," he said. "But there's still a lot of uncertainty and still a low of people worried."

Tekeste Hailu, who lives in the Flemington flats with his 73-year-old grandmother, said the box he received had expired food in it. It had jam with no bread, cereal with no milk. She said the meals were labelled with ingredients and heating instructions and DHHS was expected to translate those labels on Monday.

A spokeswoman for ASRC said it would deliver its first meals at 8am on Tuesday, having committed to cooking 1000 meals a day.Due to the strict lockdown, she said the government would then distribute the meals to households using personal protective equipment.

What is happening what is going on

They will be looked after better than anyone in Victoria. With media spot light, government under pressure & most of all Australia’s generosity to those in need(despite what negative anti-Australians say) these people from some of the worst parts of the world not go wanting here

Again the media dumps down on bad news. Don’t bother reporting that 100s of volunteers are working around the clock to support them. Just dump down on anything that grabs a headline.

This is a beat up article..utter garbage by The Age just reinforcing victimhood, this time with an Anglo-Saxon slant....pathetic and lazy reporting...

The food provided by the ASRC looked delicious and nutritious

I do feel really bad for the resident in this very difficult situation, but much of that food was lovingly prepared by charities like FareShare and all food looks inedible when frozen.

I’m sure the authority hv done d best they could to help. Stop overhyped ‘tis issues prioritized how to contain the virus frm spreading to d entire melbourne killing vulnerable lives not only the old but the young. Food/medical/basic necessities are provided with $ handout rite?

Cheap housing and now whinging about free food. Take these people out of government housing and make them get a job and work for their rent and food after this is done. They ungrateful fcks

impossible_cut FirstWorldProblems Melbourne Victoria Can Australia please ban international flights arriving here during the COVIDー19 coronavirus pandemic ? Closing the Victorian border won't help if we don't close the country's border!

It is disgusting how people behave towards other human beings. Government mishandled this one. How can you just shut 9 towers down without an f-en plan? It seems it is a crime to be poor. People are more concerned about saving dogs it seems.

It would be interesting to see the feedback when they lockdown a luxury apartment tower in Toorak.

Some of the food being delivered via a several organisations including ASRC1 & Sikh volunteers. Has the media covering this, missed these details?

Lots of complaints due to methodone not delivered on time to the drug addictes,

57 CASES in these TOWERS & it is probably SOME of them NOT prepared to have TESTS in the 1st place!! STOP treating this as a COLD/FLU situation!! It is TIME ALL VICS stop abusing it!!!👎👎👎😷😷

Let's be honest, most of them should be eating prison food anyway.

It’s the 2nd day wouldn’t matter if was a 10 course meal delivered the reports would still not be favourable it doesn’t suit the narrative

What is it that they expect? Uber Eats? Apartment towers in the CBD have up to 900 units each, no outbreaks. Here with much less than that, they cannot follow the rules. Shut up and sit tight. Next they’ll want dinner from a restaurant in Flinders Lane with wine.

Melbourne public housing residents welcome lockdown, but voice concerns over food provisionAs nine towers in Melbourne remain in hard lockdown, residents of their public housing flats report vastly different experiences of being plunged into sudden isolation. Just give those degenerates a tin of tuna, some rice and water, they're use to eating animals back in their third world countries. Fear the Lord and repent of your sins for judgement is coming and heaven or hell. 2 Cor 5:10: For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he has done, whether it be good or bad. “Jesus Saves” 'Welcome lockdown' is a bit of a stretch.

Resident inside Melbourne's lockdown towers goes without food for 24 hoursResidents of the public housing towers claim they were given little warning of the lock down, leaving them no time to gather groceries. 9News It’s unfair the lockdown was imposed without giving people enough notice to leave and avoid the lockdown. What about the poor elderly in nursing homes that have been in lockdown Umm I may have wuhan virus. But if you don't mind I might just quickly go down to the shops and by some groceries 1st. Maybe that answers the question why it was done the way it was.

Scramble to get baby formula, food to thousands in 'hard lockdown'A mammoth effort is underway in Melbourne to supply thousands of housing commission residents with essential supplies, including baby formula and food, after they were put into emergency coronavirus lockdown without warning yesterday. 9News Ffs Dan. Hopelessly out of your depth. So puts people under house arrest then works out the logistics post lockdown..... doesn't it work the other way around? How on earth are they going to look after people who are on medication or need carers to survive or get them through the day. Remove the Covid Positive people or it will end up like the nursing homes. Lifts and hallways should be sanitised continually.
