The Morrison government will take the lead from today on protecting vulnerable Australians in Victoria’s aged care system as fears mount over the state’s growing COVID-19 infections.

The Crisis Coordination Centre will be under the direction of government and will include members of defence and a 450-strong surge workforce who could be deployed where there is an outbreak in an aged care facility.

Victoria recorded its deadliest day of the pandemic on Sunday with 459 new infections and 10 new deaths, seven of which were linked to aged care homes. More than 550 active cases have been linked to Victorian aged care facilities with residents making up half the number of infections.

'Take' the lead? They're federally run. Tool.

Aged care is a fed responsibility he should have from the start

They have had the lead on aged care since the start. skymorons

Facts vs LiberalAus ScottMorrisonMP propaganda re Aged Care.

This bullshit. It’s bullshit.

About time it is their responsibility after all

Do you seriously not know that aged care is already a federal responsibilty?

Learn from the UK mistakes, protect the vulnerable and the elderly and your deaths will be tiny. 1000 deaths here from people who weren’t already ill or elderly.. you don’t need to lockdown this will cause excess deaths from other illnesses UK estimate 200,000..you do the math.

Today. It’s alwY been their responsibility. They have been very derelict in the duty of care

There’s a woman hero tell us the truth about CCP virus

Given that Aged Care is the Federal Govt's responsibility I think you meant. Too little, too late. ScottMorrisonMP finally starts to address the Federal LNP govt's absent response to the AgedCare sector. FixedItForYou vanOnselenP

Andrews proved he can’t do the job. Time for adults to take over.

Good. Andrews has lost control

Looks like Victoria is following NY, well done Daniel Andrews.

SCUMMO and his band of thieves have been so busy doing a reverse “Robin Hood” on the Australian people that they have failed to understand that they are responsible totally for aged care throughout Australia and always have been, they are responsible for all quarantine as well!

The whole thing is a mess please do the right thing Australia no protestors no crossing borders illegally protect the vulnerable care for your brothers and sisters please

The Morrison Government has always been totally responsible for aged care, particularly with private facilities. Unfortunately they have not fulfilled the requirements of the task.

Yes they have done such a fantastic job with aged care enlight of the RC?

Take the lead the federal govt is responsible for aged care. They have been crawling along behind the states hoping the states would take care of everything.

Well, the weekend's over, so part-time Scottie has to check his in-tray I guess.

All said...its just another money grab, How much do the states get for a positive covid patient? Then the 'get tested' bribe...more cases = more $$$$$$ Danandrews gotta make up the shortfall since china has been kicked to the kerb... Its not about health...

If 2nd wave is to happen Australian politicians have 3 choices: 1. lock everyone down like criminals & get hammered at the next election 2. Do what they did already & ruin the economy 3. Do the right thing, protect vulnerable. Keep economy growing, build immunity. Get re-elected

They should have been taking the lead from the day they were elected. Not from today

This has alway been a Fed Govt responsibility ..... and they know it .

Morrison’s “leadership” has been a complete and total failure. He should resign and let an adult take charge

Aged & disabled care? No one cares! The care industry should be sub-titled 'People Farming' fully funded by govt, family wanting to care for loved ones are discouraged & driven to despair. Not for Profit industry is an employment service first & foremost & receive 80% of funding.

'take the lead' what a load of rubbish

So if ScottMorrisonMP has closed our borders earlier the virus, which was brought into Australia by travellers, would have been contained. The federal government controls our borders and therefore the blame is on their head. The also control aged care. They have failed.

I wait with stillborn anticipation. Again.

That is his responsibility. You should be asking why he didn't act in March.

These poor people. They have little freedom as it is because of their age and ailments. After everything that initially happened with Covid and the lessons SUPPOSEDLY learned, have these people been set aside again!!

What do you mean, ‘from today’? The Fed Govt is responsible for aged care. Where the heck is richardmcolbeck?

Hope against experience that will prove effective

Aged care is the Federal Government’s responsibility after all. Why have they waited?

FatherBob Timing is everything.. romp in just in time to ride the downward curve created by everyone else’s good work and claim the credit.. LNP and Scummo signature move. What a useless clusterfuck.

Last I looked Victoria was part of the federal election IStandWithDan

😹🤣😂 I just read the public response to your 'reporting'. This is why we need a well funded national broadcaster MyABC

From today? It’s been his responsibility from the start you flops. Scottyhatesyournanna

Anyone who said it was okay for Morrison to go on holiday again, this time in the middle of a worldwide pandemic is a dill.

It is the Federal responsibility on aged care but we know they don't really care judging by the 100k of elderly people waiting for aged cared.

A day late and a dollar short

FatherBob This is not news. It’s always been a federal responsibility.

It’s about time the federal government stepped in

FatherBob Nursing homes are a Federal issue, isn't it? You mean 'finally' taking a lead?

Today the Morrison Government will finally do its job in an area under its direct control.

Dictator Dan conceding he has no idea what he is doing

Looks like Scott Morrison has decided to protect Victorians from Dan The Man (who has been “helping” to protect Victorians from COVID)

The Morrison government reluctantly concedes today that they are the responsible authority that runs the aged care system.

'Take the lead'? Isn't aged Carr a federal responsibility?

Ohhhh now he wants to protect them ...they're the ones that wanted that should've been isolated from the start NOT THE WHOLE OF AUSTRALIA. That of course is even if this were real.

Wow.. covid19australia started way back early 2020 and the lazy lump ScottMorrisonMP waits till end of july to do his day job...heard a joke... it's about ScottMorrisonMP but it didn't work.

'We're on the brink in Victoria': Aged care sector's warningMelbourne's nursing homes are struggling to contain coronavirus, with doctors calling for an interstate staffing 'surge' and aged care advocates saying the military could be brought in to help. Wow. Dan Andrews knocked the military support back 2 weeks ago and now the age care sector is asking for that help. He also admitted yesterday that they haven't been contacting positive cases within 24 hrs. The military could of helped 2 weeks ago. ResignDanielAndrews These are the people we should quarantine and look after, not returning cruisers, travellers and “Australians” returning home.... government money spent in wrong area... Meh, we need to this the herd a bit. Disease seems a legitimate, guilt-free way
