A Hamptons estate extensively renovated by David Walentas, the real-estate investor who developed Brooklyn’s Dumbo region into a popular retail and residential destination, is on the market for $35 million

.

The traditional gabled brick house, located on Coopers Neck Lane in Southampton, dates to around 1910, Mr. Walentas said. It was designed by Grosvenor Atterbury, who was the architect of homes by John D. Rockefeller, Jr., and of the American Wing of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Mr. Walentas, 82, and his late wife Jane Walentas bought the house for $11.6 million in 2019, records show. Mr. Walentas said he intended for the renovation to be a weekend project, since he was no longer spending as much time in the city and his son had taken over his real-estate business.Mr.
