The property, located on Stevens Avenue, has been the subject of an investigation by Columbus police since 2022 for drug trafficking and criminal activity. Court documents said authorities were made aware of the property in 2022 due to community complaints, and cocaine was seized when a search warrant was executed later that year.
Police kept an eye on the property, where they responded to reports of shots fired, people being threatened, and a tip that drugs had been purchased from the property between late 2022 and early 2023.“The Columbus Division of Police worked tirelessly to gather the evidence needed to shut this dangerous property down and give area residents real peace of mind,” Assistant City Attorney Robert Doersam said in a media release.
The city obtained a temporary restraining order to shut down the property, which police have boarded up. “Criminal drug activity has no place in our neighborhoods where residents want nothing more than a safe, vibrant community to live and raise their families,” Columbus City Attorney Zach Klein said. “Thanks to the Division of Police, the City secured an order to board up another dangerous, crime-ridden property and improve public safety for this area of Franklinton.
