Assistant Treasurer Stuart Robert is the latest Coalition MP to accuse Chris Bowen of ‘lying’ about the data sets behind Labor’s negative gearing reforms.

His comments echo those of Treasurer Josh Frydenberg, who said Mr Bowen had been ‘caught out’ after the Australian Bureau of Statistics denied it had produced data showing that only seven per cent of property investors bought new homes. The Shadow Treasurer has used those figures repeatedly to back his housing policy, but Mr Robert says the ABS ‘doesn’t collect the data that is purported to be relied upon’.

Bowen caught out on negative gearing numbersOpposition Treasury spokesman Chris Bowen has been caught using inaccurate figures to promote Labors negative gearing policy, after the Australian Bureau of Statistics denied claims it produced data showing only 7 per cent of property investors bought new homes. Isn't the correct term for Chris Bowen 'Shadow Treasurer'? not 'Opposition Treasury spokesman'? He quite literally makes the policies, he doesn't just get up on a podium and talk about them. Have you guys at the Australian listened to the amount of inaccuracies that come out of Josh Frydenberg's mouth? And he's actually in government. Silly buggers, lying doesn’t pay off.
